New Perfume Floris Mahon Leather Takes Inspiration from Minorca, Calent & Horses 2011

Floris have launched a new perfume in their Private Collection called Mahon Leather which is partly inspired by a local mulled-wine drink called Calent from Minorca, the birthplace of founder Juan Famenias Floris. Originally a recipe which mixes herbs, anis, cinnamon, wine and saffron, it is considered a festive drink traditionally served during Christmastime on the island.

More generally, Mahon Leather is interested in capturing the atmosphere of Minorca and the Calent liqueur accord was paired with the evocation of "the exhilarating aroma of leather tack worn by the Minorcan horse.""Inspired by Minorca the theme combines the scent of the warm liqueur Calent, an infusion of wine and spices dating back to ancient times, paired with the exhilarating aroma of leather tack worn by the Minorcan Horse, symbolic of most cultural celebrations and fiestas on the island. New Perfume Isabel Derroisné Eclat Eternel 2011

Isabel Derroisné launched a new women's fragrance this month called Eclat Eternel (Eternal Spark.) The white-floral perfume composition is inspired by the idea of eternal love and the stone that symbolizes it, diamond...We don't know if men will pick up on the suggestion, but the perfume is presented pre-women's lib, as one of those scents meant to be offered by a man to a woman.Eclat Eternal is described as a radiant, bright floral.The Eau de Parfum opens on top notes of bergamot and grapefruit before opening up on a floral heart of tuberose and Sambac jasmine absolute, LMR -- the acronym stands for Laboratoire Monique Rémy, a famous source for sophisticated perfumery materials. Base notes are vanilla and Cashmeran wood.The brand fairly recenty still advertized the perfumers' names on their website but have apparently changed their policy on readily divulging the names and thoughts of the noses who compose their fragrances.

Nina Ricci Nina Snow Princess Edition Collector 2011

     Nina by Nina Ricci will be declined in a new version of the original scent from 2006 in a Collector Edition called Nina Snow Princess.For the occasion, the apple-shaped flacon is dressed in a scintillating white mother-of pearl-coat contrasted with gold. Madame Ricci called white "The color of elegance." The perfume also undergoes a discreet makeover to be in tune with the warm gourmand accents of the festive end-of-year season.

     Perfumer Olivier Cresp of Firmenich revisited the original juice he co-created with colleague Jacques Cavallier. Nina Snow Princess becomes nuttier with an added note of roasted praline. This is the man who created Angel by Thierry Mugler, which happens to be inspired by the smells of a Christmas open-air market in Alsace, so we can all see where this might present affinities with the spirit of Angel.

     The fragrance features notes of Calabrian lemon, Caipirinha lime, caramel apple, vanilla infusion, praline, apple tree wood, cotton musk and white cedar wood.

It will launch in France on October 15, 2011.
